he supplement contains a long chain fatty acids such as hexacosanol and triacontanol.

The supplement is cheaper compared to other cholesterol lowering medications.

It is the alcohols in this supplement that aid in cholesterol metabolism in the liver. The supplement is also used in treating heart disorders especially arteriosclerosis and reduces the risk of blood clotting. They lower harmful the cholesterol levels and promotes normal LDL-cholesterol uptake in body system.

The supplement lowers LDL cholesterol level - the bad cholesterol by 25% while raising the level and production of the HDL cholesterol- the good cholesterol by 29%. The supplement is non toxic to liver even when taken in high levels.
 
Each tablet contains 82 mg calcium and 20mg of policosanol. It also contains microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate dibasic calcium phosphate and colloidal silicon. 

Patients taking blood thinners are not advised to take this supplement. This is because the supplement is a blood thinner in itself. The supplement reduces platelet aggregation and can affect blood clotting. Side effects that can be observed while taking the supplement include skin rash, insomnia, migraine headache and gastrointestinal disorders.
