Genistein (0722)

Genistein

Genistein: is the strongest estrogenic isoflavones and is primarily found in soy products such as textured vegetable products and tofu.

It is one of the components of soy isoflavones derived mainly from soybean. Like many isoflavones, Genistein functions as an excellent antioxidant and is known to produce non-hormonal effects in human estrogen receptors, similar to hormone estrogen.

Genistein estrogenic characteristic has a protective effect against human body weight as well as osteoporosis. As a result, the compound has been used as a body weight reduction agent. In addition, according to some confirmed studies on the compound, Genistein is known to be a good anti-cancer agent. Is inhibits the uncontrolled cell division, which is mainly the root cause of cancer.

However, at some point, some studies showed some negative effect on breast cancer. Genistein was said to make body cells more vulnerable to radio-therapy. There is also a concern of Genistein use increasing the risk of leukemia. This is because of its nature of inhibiting the production of topoisomerase, causing the blood to be mutagenic. Some women are known to use Genistein as a way of easing menopause effect. However, health experts advise against the norm as it may not be very safe.
