Garcinia cambogia: is a kind of fruit similar to a miniature pumpkin.
It is mainly found in India and some parts of Asia. An extract from its rind and fruit known as hydroxycitric acid (HCA) is used in the manufacture of numerous weight loss products.
This extract is said to reduce appetite and stimulate the burning of excess fat hence achieving its function in reducing weight. However this theory is yet to be proved in humans.
The theory claims that garcinia cambogia’s extract-HCA inhibits the enzyme citrate lyase that is responsible for the conversion of excess carbohydrates into fats. Consequently, the body is believed to stimulate the oxidation of these carbohydrates.
Broad animal researches have shown that garcinia cambogia reduces food intake by minimizing appetite although it is yet to be clarified in humans.
