Fo-ti: is a natural herb than is found in the Asian countries of China, Japan and Taiwan. The Chinese call the herb he-shou-wu.
The medicinal value of this herb is found in its roots. The fo-ti herb is used in two forms: the red fo-ti and the white fo-ti. The red fo-ti is the processed or dried root while the white fo-ti is the unprocessed or cured root. In traditional Chinese medicine, this herb is used to prevent premature aging.
The herb is also used to treat cardio vascular illnesses that occur as a result of hardened arteries. The herb has also been known to lower serum cholesterol and improve the efficiency of the immune system. Fo-ti can treat other conditions such as insomnia, constipation, erectile dysfunction, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.
The fo-ti herb contains catachin, a substance that is can inhibit cancerous cells. Its antioxidant effects make it an ideal anti aging agent. It also has antibacterial as well as vasodilatory properties.
Adverse Side Effects: When taken in doses that are more than 15 grams, you may experience some numbness in your limbs. Other side effects, though mild, include skin rash and in some cases, diarrhea.
