Eyebright: (Euphrasia officinalis) or also known as meadow eyebright and red eyebright.
This plant is growing wild in Europe and was originally used for eye irritation. It is used now for conjunctivitis (virus), blepharitis( sagging eye lids), tired and irritated eyes and even for styes. These uses are in a topical form.
Taken orally, studies have shown great improvements for allergies, bronchitis, sinus infestions and colds.
Eyebright is available in a tea.
. Adverse Side Effects: may cause itchiness, increased sensitivity to light, swollen eyelids, changes in vision, watery eyes, or changes in eye pressure. Nausea, sweating and confusion have also been reported with oral eyebright use.
caution is advised when using as a topical for the eyes, sterile application should be used.
