This compound is a dietary supplement  better known for use in memory improvement, like the disease Alzheimer's , where the memory impairment is the most devistating aspect of this non curable disease. While it is being studied for improving depression, nothing is conclusive to date. 

Other studies are looking at neuroprotective benefits for treating Parkinson's disease and stroke.
